THE MAN BEHIND THE MAP

Mohd Prasad

Dip. Int. Arb. Dip. Syariah. BSc. Elec Eng. BSc. Comp Eng. MBA

Prasad’s education began at the Royal Military College and continued on a Petronas scholarship to Johns Hopkins University in the United States, where he graduated with double degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering, with a minor in Economics. He later completed an MBA at University Malaya, a Diploma in Syariah, and a Diploma in International Arbitration.

His career started not in a boardroom but in Bosnia Herzegovina, as a project engineer under UNHCR building the Rakovica Refugee Camp and adult education centres in Zenica and Sarajevo. From there he moved to LSI Logic in Oregon, where he led the introduction of nanotechnology in Malaysia and built the country’s first 90nm semiconductor production line. He then completed a RM65 million subsea cable project for TNB — on time, under budget, without a single safety incident.

The chapter that shaped his worldview most came next. At the East Coast Economic Region Development Council, he ran poverty eradication and entrepreneur development programs for over 12,000 participants, managing a budget of approximately RM300 million that he helped secure through a direct proposal to the Prime Minister’s Department. He saw what development finance could do when it actually reached people — and what happened when it didn’t.

That experience never left him. Today he sits as Secretary General of ADFIM, CEO of Darul Haq Global Ventures — a capital investment company with operations across Australia, the United Kingdom, India, and Sri Lanka — and Board Member of Koperasi Rakyat BR2.0. He also chairs Pertubuhan Generasi Al-Fatih, a movement addressing the socio-economic challenges facing Muslim communities, and has served as a Council Member of the Klang Municipal Council.

He speaks and consults on geopolitics, economy, and development because he has lived on both sides of the equation — inside the institutions that design the system, and on the ground with the communities the system is supposed to serve

Major Achievements

  • Secured a RM300 million budget for Malaysia’s national poverty eradication and entrepreneur development programs under the 11th Malaysia Plan — directly shaping how the state deployed development finance at the grassroots level.

  • Led high-level discussions with Global Institutions on capital deployment for underserved communities and the architecture of efficient development finance ecosystems.

  • Spoke on the geopolitics of the global financial system at international forums in Kazakhstan, Turkiye, Indonesia, Singapore, and Qatar — bringing the Global South perspective to policymakers, development institutions, and corporate leaders.

  • Built and scaled cross-border investment operations across India, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, Australia, and the United Kingdom through Darul Haq Global Ventures — with direct exposure to how capital moves, and fails to move, across developing economies.

  • Served as Council Member of the Klang Municipal Council, leading the formalization of Bumiputera businesses, community welfare programs, and governance reform at the local level — where development policy meets the ground.

  • Completed a RM65 million subsea infrastructure project for TNB on time, under budget, and without a single safety incident — evidence of the same discipline he brings to every advisory and speaking engagement.

THE ROAD BEFORE THE STAGE

Prasad’s career did not begin in conference rooms. It began in Bosnia Herzegovina, as a project engineer under UNHCR building the Rakovica Refugee Camp and adult education centres in Zenica and Sarajevo — his first direct encounter with what happens when states fail and development institutions have to fill the gap.

From Bosnia he moved to LSI Logic in Oregon, where he led process improvements that saved over RM10 million annually, introduced nanotechnology to Malaysia, and launched the country’s first 90nm semiconductor production line. He then completed a RM65 million subsea cable project for TNB from Kapar Power Station to Pulau Ketam — on time, under budget, without a single safety incident.

From infrastructure he moved to people. At the East Coast Economic Region Development Council, he ran poverty eradication and entrepreneur development programs for over 12,000 participants across Malaysia’s East Coast, managing a budget of approximately RM300 million secured through a direct proposal to the Prime Minister’s Department. He worked alongside universities, government agencies, and communities to build programs that were designed to outlast the funding cycles that created them.

That ground-level experience is what sits behind his analysis today. When Prasad speaks on development finance or economic sovereignty, he is not reading from reports. He has run the programs those reports are written about.

[Mohd Prasad] is very knowledgeable and was able to tailor the whole time to our individual as well as our organisational needs. The practical and filtered manner which business terms were explained were easy to comprehend and made me think about the possible scenarios, particularly in the workplace and managing conflict. An eye-opening training and having the opportunity to discuss issues openly and honestly without any prejudice which I really appreciated the flexibility.

The experience with you form start to finish was always faultless. I can see why you are so successful and wanted by many other business owners just like me. Also, I personally have recommended your coaching and motivation skill courses to some of my colleagues.
